Palm Nut & Seed

Palm Nut & Seed

The San people living in the shadow of Tsodilo Hills delight in their neclaces, earrings and braclets crafted using natural seeds, porcupine quills, bits of hollow sticks and mokolwani palm nuts.  The seeds and pods used are seasonally collected in the Kalahari Desert and the worn out seeds in the jewelry they wear are often replaced with shiny new seeds which are abundant at different times of the year.

Due to the nature of dried seeds, the jewelry you purchase should also be considered "seasonally renewable" if it is worn frequently, as the dry seeds deteriorate with frequent wear.

However, if the peices are handled carefully when worn or used as home decoration they will last many years.
